Home Birth Petition

I know it isn't for everyone but I hope you will sign this petition and help out. It should be the woman's decision on where they want to give birth and as long as they know the risks, why should anyone else tell them otherwise?

For those of you who haven't seen it and might be interested in signing...Please help send a message to the AMA and ACOG, and to our state and federal legislators, to tell them that we object to these resolutions and we view legislation that would restrict a woman's right to choose a home birth as a being contrary to scientific evidence and a violation of women's basic human rights.

I didn't even know this was an issue. Is someone trying to pass a law that women have to give birth in a hospital? That's just dumb.
Even though I prefer to give birth in a hospital, that doesn't mean that I think that everyone else should have to do so. It's a woman's choice.
Of course, if there is something known to be a problem with the baby that it would require immediate medical attention after birth, then I think it would be irresponsible of the mother not to give birth in a hospital. Of course, it's still her choice. If she risks her child's life and the child suffers or dies, then she should be brought up on charges for that.

OUR right to give birth where we want is what is at issue. This is really all about money and the fact that the OB's and hospital aren't getting any when a mom has a home birth.

I don't know and have never heard of any mom who knowingly did a homebirth and was a high risk. Midwives do not take you on as patients if you are at all high risk whether it's a homebirth or in a birth center- at least in the state of FL.
